The most important point of contact between human and machine

With this remote control electronics kit, an individually manufactured grip shell of a control stick can be equipped with the electronics required to operate a OpenVario . But other devices like XCNav or XCTouchNav with XCSoar may be operated with this USB electronics.

The grip shell for your new control stick can be made from fine real wood, laminated from CFRP or printed from filament using your own 3D printer. 

NEW: Version 4.2 has been completely revised. A total of 6 individually insulated, aviation-approved TEFZEL wires replaced the thick and rigid USB cable previously used. For easy assembly, the cables can be disconnected and reconnected to the USB-A terminal block without tools. All you have to do is push the slides on the terminal block with your finger or a screw driver in the opposite direction. Another new feature is that an engine start button can be installed. For this purpose, the upper button of the PCB can be removed.

This kit contains:

  • circuit board equipped with 4 pushbuttons and 1 joystick
  • separate speed to fly button
  • 6 individual TEFZEL wires (each 2.5 m long), already soldered to the circuit board
  • USB-A connector with spring terminals
  • CFRP front panel with engraved letters
  • Screw set consisting of: 4 x M2.5 screws, 4 x M2.5 spacer bolts, 4 x M2.5 brass inserts (to be pressed into the 3D printed control stick body)
  • custom made silicone keypad

Please make sure that the wires are well strain-relieved! At the USB-A connector PCB, the TEFZEL wires can be secured using a cable tie.

Note: The aluminum insert for the precise installation of the control stick grip to the control rod tube is not included in the scope of delivery, but can be ordered separately in the shop. Aluminium Insert for Control Stick
